ATHENS, Ga., Oct. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Georgia Terry College of Business Entrepreneurship Program recently invited Scott Edwards, CEO at Adaptive Medical Partners, one of the fastest growing physician recruiting companies in the country, to guest lecture to the 2015 Entrepreneurship (ENTR 5500) Class.
The entrepreneurial programs, including The Entrepreneurship and New Venture Formation class at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business are directed by Bob Pinckney the former CEO of Evo Shield. The program exists to expose students to entrepreneurship environments, where students will develop a greater self-awareness of their fit with entrepreneurial environments. They also learn the processes of venture idea generation, idea screening, feasibility analysis, and business planning. This is accomplished through a combination of readings, projects, exercises, and speakers designed to convey the unique environment of entrepreneurship and new venture creation.
Scott and the Adaptive team were honored to be part of this program to help mold the next generation of business students at UGA. During the talk Scott shared his experiences as a student while at The University of Georgia, the impact it had on his perspective of entrepreneurship and his approach to business and life. He told his story of how he came to be the co-owner and CEO of Adaptive Medical Partners and how he and his team nurtured a small start-up into one of the best and most innovative physician recruiting companies around. The evidence of the power of this class was palpable not just during the talk but also following the lecture from the students, Professor Pinckney, and the Program Director Kelly Durkin.
"I believe that the most difficult step to becoming an entrepreneur is the first one. Stepping away from what is safe and comfortable into the risk laden unknown and unproven… Entrepreneurs are not snuggled up with a warm blanket next to the fireplace; they are out in the elements pushing through the snow. You owe it to yourself to try. Let comfortable be the destination, not the journey."
