CertainTeed Selects Jonesburg, Mo. For New State-of-the-Art Roofing Plant

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., April 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CertainTeed Corporation is very pleased to have selected Jonesburg, Mo., as the home for a new, state-of-the art asphalt roofing shingle manufacturing and distribution facility. The company is planning to invest $100 million in the new facility, which will bring approximately 100 new permanent, local jobs to the Jonesburg community over the next few years.

CertainTeed, which is North America's leading brand of sustainable building materials, was founded in nearby East St. Louis, Ill., in 1904 as the General Roofing Manufacturing Company, and today, offers a wide array of residential, commercial and solar roofing products.

It is anticipated that an estimated 400 ancillary local jobs in trucking, welding and maintenance services will support operations at the facility when completed.

With construction slated to begin this summer, the project will include a 60,000 square-foot manufacturing facility that will produce the CertainTeed's highly popular Landmark™ roofing shingles. In addition, the construction of a 150,000 square-foot warehouse will serve as a Midwestern distribution site for all of the company's roofing products. As part of the competitive site selection process, officials from the State of Missouri, Warren County, Montgomery County and the City of Jonesburg teamed up on an economic development package to support the project.

In addition to the Jonesburg facility, CertainTeed operates 10 asphalt shingle plants, one low-slope commercial roofing facility and three stand-alone granule production plants throughout the U.S. — which includes the world's largest roofing plant in Oxford, N.C.
