Chadbourne Expands Litigation Practice with Addition of Two Lateral Partners

NEW YORK, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The international law firm Chadbourne & Parke LLP announced today that litigators M. Scott Peeler and Jeffrey Wasserman have joined the firm as partners in the New York office, bolstering Chadbourne's litigation capabilities in two key areas.

Mr. Peeler, 39, was previously a partner at Arent Fox and Mr. Wasserman, 36, was most recently a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani, both in New York.

Mr. Peeler focuses his practice on white collar litigation and government investigations, including health care fraud and abuse, money laundering, securities and tax violations. He also regularly advises clients on compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption laws. Before joining private practice, Mr. Peeler served as an Assistant District Attorney for New York County under former District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, where he prosecuted major felonies, including economic fraud, coercion and narcotics trafficking.  In his career, he has successfully tried many state and federal jury trials.

Mr. Wasserman returns to Chadbourne, where he previously served as an associate. He concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation with a focus on cross-border disputes and other transactions. Mr. Wasserman has significant experience with such major issues as the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, the doctrine of forum non conveniens, personal and subject matter jurisdiction, bankruptcies and others.

Mr. Peeler is a frequent legal commentator in the news media and a member of the New York State Bar Association's Task Force on Wrongful Convictions, which recommended substantive changes to New York's criminal justice system. He received a B.A. with honors in 1993 and J.D. in 1997 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In addition to his litigation skills, Mr. Wasserman is experienced in arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the American Arbitration Association. He earned an A.B., with honors, from Lafayette College in 1996 and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1999.
