Chainlink's Cross-Chain Token Standard Is Now Compatible with Optimism's SuperchainERC20, With Its First Deployment on Soneium via ASTR

The successful upgrade of Astar Network's infrastructure demonstrates how any ecosystem can now achieve Superchain interoperability through Chainlink CCIP and the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Chainlink, in collaboration with Astar Network, and Optimism, announced today that Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is now powering the first live deployment of a SuperchainERC20-compatible cross-chain token on Soneium Mainnet via the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. As part of the Astar Evolution Phase 1.5 initiative, the ASTR token is now a Cross-Chain Token (CCT), aligning with Optimism's vision for seamless interoperability across the broader Superchain ecosystem. This upgrade is powered by Chainlink CCIP, enabling secure and seamless cross-chain functionality and Superchain interop compatibility.

This launch marks a significant milestone for enhancing secure and scalable interoperability in the Superchain ecosystem. Developed through close collaboration between Chainlink, Astar Network, and Optimism, this implementation demonstrates how the CCT standard can be used to connect ecosystems, OP Mainnet, and other Superchain layer 2s, while also extending interoperability to other EVM and non-EVM chains like Solana.

SuperchainERC20, which has adopted the ERC7802 standard, is enabled with Chainlink's Cross-Chain Token standard and introduces a unified framework for secure, cross-chain token movement within and beyond the Superchain. Developers can integrate native token transfers between OP Stack chains on the first Superchain-compatible block, presenting additional options for simplifying cross-chain design.
