Chamberlain College of Nursing Offers National Chief Steward Scholarship
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Nov. 24, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to support the advancement of education for nurses and improve healthcare outcomes, Chamberlain College of Nursing is offering four (4) merit-based scholarships that provide meaningful tuition assistance for prospective RN to BSN students who have shown exceptional academic performance, demonstrated a commitment to community involvement, and shown an interest in advancing their education to meet the highly evolving demands of healthcare. These scholarships will be awarded to registered nurses who possess the commitment, passion and attitude demonstrated by nurses delivering compassionate care in communities nationwide. Scholarships were announced at the National Student Nursing Association Awards Ceremony on November 5, 2010.
Award amount:One (1) scholarship for $8,000
Three (3) scholarships for $2,500 each
Audience: Registered Nurses with a nursing diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing interested in obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Eligibility:
- Applicant must submit a 300-500 word essay on what they are doing to follow the path of Florence Nightingale and keep their lamp lit (also highlight community activities)
- Reference letter from current employer must accompany application
- Minimum of 3.0 CGPA
- Registered Nurse with an active license
- History of involvement in the community or with non-profit organizations and activities
- Student has met Chamberlain entrance requirements
- Cannot be receiving any other Chamberlain scholarship
- Must enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours per session to receive award
- Verified transcript with date of completed diploma or degree and CGPA
- Student is a US citizen or a permanent resident
- Employees of Chamberlain College of Nursing, DeVry Inc. or any DeVry Inc institution are not eligible for these scholarships.

Continued eligibility: Student must maintain a 3.0 CGPA (on a 4.0 scale) and enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours per session.
Requirements for Scholarship
- Scholarship award is contingent upon student's application and acceptance into the Chamberlain RN to BSN program.
- Scholarship recipients are responsible for all other educational expenses.
- If/when a student is eligible for another special Chamberlain tuition rate (e.g. military rate, alumni rate or other scholarship) – the student will receive the option that is in her/his best financial interest. Chamberlain Scholarships are not awarded to students already receiving a discount or participating in another Chamberlain scholarship program.
