Changzhou to Develop Bio-pharmaceutical Incubator

CHANGZHOU, China, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- On January 16, a foundation laying ceremony for the Changzhou Bio-pharmaceutical Incubator -- an innovative technological medium with international standards, with Changzhou Fangyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. as the principal developer -- was held in the Changzhou National High-Tech District, Jiangsu province. 15 enterprises under incubation were officially inducted during the event, while total investment for the project amounts to RMB520 million. The key areas of development are innovative pharmaceuticals, diagnostic reagents, medical engineering and outsourcing of pharmaceutical research and development, providing the required resources for the development of the bio-pharmaceutical industry.

"The goal of the incubator is to harvest 50 enterprises, develop 1,000 high-quality industry talents and realize annual revenue of about RMB10 billion among the 200 enterprises under incubation over five years," said Fangyuan Pharmaceutical's Chairman Jin Xiaoyong.

Ma Hongjian, Deputy Director of the China National Center for Biotechnology Development; Fan Yanqing, the Changzhou Municipal Party Committee Secretary; and Xia Bing, Deputy Department Chief of the Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Department, were among the speakers who extended their congratulations. Dai Yuan, Standing Committee Member of CPC, Changzhou Municipal Committee, hosted the ceremony.

Fan Yanqing said the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal government have already listed the pharmaceutical industry as one of the "top five industries" to be fostered and supported. Despite the financial crisis last year, Changzhou's bio-pharmaceutical industry continued to grow by 20%. Developing the bio-pharmaceutical incubator is significant to Changzhou's bio-pharmaceutical industry development.

Xia Bing noted that this is a significant event for the bio-pharmaceutical industry throughout the entire province and marks a new round of development for the Changzhou bio-pharmaceutical industry. He indicated that the provincial Science and Technology Department would further enhance the guidance and service of Changzhou's bio-pharmaceutical industry, and would work together to turn Jiangsu Province into a key base for the bio-pharmaceutical industry.

Changzhou Fangyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is a key national level high-tech enterprise with four research and development institutions, including the Jiangsu Province Semi-synthetic Antibiotic Engineering and Technology Research Center and Jiangsu Province Microbiology Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology Research Center, and two workstations for academics and graduate students.
