Charter High School to Dedicate New Facility
MIAMI, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- LifeSkills Center of Miami-Dade County, a charter high school serving students age 16-21 seeking a state-recognized high school diploma, will celebrate the grand opening of its new location in the Northside Plaza on Tuesday, August 24 at 10:00 AM.
"LifeSkills is what gave me the opportunity to continue doing what I love to do," said Kyle Scott, a 2005 LifeSkills graduate, who now attends Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach. "I pushed myself so hard ... and as long as I know where I came from, I know how far I can grow."
Kyle's story is one of many to come out of LifeSkills of Miami-Dade. His story can be viewed at www.WedidUcan.com. The dropout recovery program uses a unique academic model, including a customized academic plan that provides each student access to highly qualified teachers and support staff.
"LifeSkills Miami-Dade has helped high school students overcome obstacles and earn their diploma since 2005," said Stacy London, school administrator. "Our kids graduate and move on with their lives when they previously had nowhere else to turn."
The governing board and staff of the school invite the community to celebrate the opening of the new facility and learn more about how LifeSkills students develop the employability and social skills they will need after graduation, and how they learn to embrace positive social values and community services while preparing themselves for a career or continuing education.
