Chateau Morrisette Winery Announces New Blended Red Wines In Time for the Holidays
FLOYD, Va., Nov. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Chateau Morrisette Winery announces three new, budget-friendly blended red wines just in time for the holidays: 5 Red Grapes, Archival 1, and Chambourcin Reserve (2012).
As reported by Time magazine, the U.S. is the world's largest wine market, and Americans are searching beyond Old World vintages for versatile undiscovered gems. One notable trend is the growth of affordable, blended wines, which can enhance the texture, body, finish and even aromas of the wine in unexpected ways.
"The red wines we're releasing this year are showing more terroir. We're harvesting from over a dozen vineyards, each with different soils and micro-climates," commented Brian Cheeseborough, Oenologist and Winemaker for Chateau Morrisette. "Our new reds have multiple facets, and are fruit forward and approachable when they are young, yet structured and age-worthy enough to mature in the cellar."
Of Chateau Morrisette's new releases, Cheeseborough believes the winery's Archival 1 is perfect for Thanksgiving and gift giving: "Archival 1 goes well with a turkey leg, but will also pair well with ham, stuffing, green beans or sweet potatoes as part of a traditional Thanksgiving meal," added Cheeseborough.
The winery's new 5 Red Grapes is a dry red blend that's youthful, aromatic and loaded with cherry and something completely unexpected – graham crackers. "Modern yet approachable, it's perfectly paired with herb-crusted pork loin or even a garlic-mushroom pasta," said Cheeseborough.
"Our 2012 Chambourcin Reserve is a special wine in a style we can't reproduce every year as the grape chemistry is critical, so enjoy this limited edition while supplies last!," shared Cheeseborough. The Chambourcin Reserve is a bold, decadent wine perfect with steak, lasagna or even dark chocolate.
As Cheeseborough looks forward with the 2014 vintage, he's developing both blended wines as well as varietals, including two styles of Chardonnay, one in stainless steel and a second that is more traditional barrel fermented and aged.
Chateau Morrisette wines are available for purchase online at www.thedogs.com and at the winery. Be sure to check out the winery's special events, including the annual wine sale, open houses, and special dining packages at the Restaurant at Chateau Morrisette this holiday season.
