Cheng Wu Joins Vertica Board of Directors

BILLERICA, Mass., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Vertica, the leading provider of next generation analytic database software, today announced Cheng Wu has joined its board of directors. Wu, currently Co-founder and Chairman at Azuki Systems, is one of the most successful and prolific entrepreneurs of his generation. He rejoins Christopher Lynch, Vertica's recently named President and CEO, to collaborate for the fourth time in the past 10 years.  

Between Arris Networks, Prominet, ArrowPoint Communications, Acopia Networks and Azuki Systems, Wu and Lynch have generated over $6 billion in returns to investors and created thousands of jobs. At Vertica, Wu joins Lynch, and a team of industry luminaries that include Ray Lane, former President of Oracle, and Dr. Michael Stonebraker, a 'founding father' in the relational and data management systems industry.  

In 2001, Wu founded and served as Chairman of Acopia Networks, a leader in high-performance, intelligent file virtualization solutions, where Lynch helmed as CEO. Acopia was acquired by F5 Networks in August 2007. Prior to Acopia, Wu held various executive positions, including Group VP and General Manager of the Content and Multiservice Edge Group (CME). He had joined Cisco Systems in June 2000, through Cisco's acquisition of ArrowPoint Communications. Wu had founded ArrowPoint Communications, where he served as Chairman of the Board and CEO, leading the company to a successful IPO in April of 2000. He also founded Arris Networks, a Massachusetts-based startup that developed high-density Internet access products, that was acquired by Cascade Communications in May 1996. Post acquisition, he served as Cascade's Vice President for remote access engineering.
