Children's Minnesota names Marc Gorelick, MD, as next president and chief operating officer
MINNEAPOLIS and ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Children's Minnesota is pleased to welcome Marc Gorelick, MD, as its new president and chief operating officer. Dr. Gorelick, who is chief operating officer and executive vice president of Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW), will begin his role at Children's Minnesota on March 20.
Dr. Gorelick will provide leadership, direction and oversight to the operations and management of Children's Minnesota. He brings more than 20 years of experience in pediatric emergency medicine, education and research, hospital operations and health care leadership to his new role.

Dr. Gorelick joins the seventh largest pediatric health system in the country at an important time. Last year, Children's Minnesota launched a new long-range strategic plan designed to strengthen and improve the health of all kids, redesign the care experience to be better centered on the changing needs and expectations of patients and families, while also managing costs to ensure every family is able to access and afford this level of specialized care.

Dr. Gorelick's previous positions include serving as executive vice president of Children's Hospital and Health System and professor of pediatrics (emergency medicine) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Additionally, he served as chief executive officer of Children's Specialty Group and vice president of surgical services, medical director of the emergency department and chief of pediatric emergency medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also held faculty positions at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the AI DuPont Hospital for Children.
Dr. Gorelick has a bachelor of arts degree from Princeton University, a master of science in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a medical degree from Duke University. Dr. Gorelick trained in pediatrics at Children's National Medical Center and in pediatric emergency medicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
He is active in a number of community service and environmental organizations, and has served on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin and the Blood Center of Wisconsin.
