Chile Exhibits at the Winter Fancy Food Show 2012
- Chile's food industry exports have grown by 70% during the last five years. The Chilean food industry will showcase gourmet, ethnic, natural and organic foods and, snacks for the fourth time at Winter Fancy Food Show 2012.
- Food sales are worth over US$12 billion at present and are expected to top US$20 billion in 2015, effectively placing Chile among the top-ten food producing countries.
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Seven Chilean companies will showcase innovation through senses at the Winter Fancy Food Show 2012. With a 100% carbon neutral pavilion and its fourth participation at the show, the Chilean food supply includes olive oil, natural snacks, wine jellies, risottos, salt, quinoa preparations, ulmo tree honey, vinegar, ethnic foods such as merken seasoning and Chiloe garlic paste.
A unique geography and climate, excellent phyto-sanitary standards and compliance with international traceability standards have turned Chile into a global supplier of quality and wholesome foods. At the same time, these attributes have contributed to Chile's positioning on the international gastronomic scene and also to become one of the top ten food suppliers worldwide by 2015, with exports worth USD 20 billion.
The USA is by far Chile's top destination market for foods. During 2010 the USA purchased 23% of Chilean shipments worth USD 2.285,75 million, while between January and October 2011, USD 2.217,38 million were exported. Among the attributes of this export supply that seduces the palates of the American market is sophistication and value added gourmet products.

Chile has set mayor goals in creating increased environmental awareness and responsibility to reach consumers with specialty food products that add better life quality. By exhibiting at the Winter Fancy Food Show 2012, the country is moving one step forward toward these goals.
In order to take on the challenge to commitment to economic growth with sustainable development, Chile will neutralize the pavilion's CO2 emissions. This effort adds to 9 previous events since 2011: Fruit Logistica 2011(Berlin), Biofach 2011 (Nuremberg), Prowein (Dusseldorf), London Wine (London), Carbon Expo (Barcelona), Vinexpo 2011 (Bordeaux), Fancy Food Show (Washington), Anuga (Cologne) and Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair (China y Hong Kong). Two tons of CO2 were neutralized.
