Chortek & Gottschalk CPAs/CFEs Co-Author Oregon Society of CPAs Magazine Surviving Fraud Article
CHICAGO, July 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Chortek & Gottschalk, a firm of CPAs/CFEs and Business Advisors, today announced that two of its Chicago office CPAs/CFEs have co-authored the July/August front-page article published by the Oregon Society of CPAs, The Accountant Magazine, "Surviving the Aftermath of a Fraud."
The comprehensive article examines how CPAs/CFEs help minimize the potential of fraud. "Surviving the Aftermath of a Fraud," was written by Dave Friedman, Chortek & Gottschalk partner, CPA, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA) and Heidi Bucklew, CPA, CFE, CFF, senior manager Chicago office. In addition, the article was also authored by Patsy Dunn, CPA, CFE, senior manager at Talbot, Korvola & Warwick in Portland, Oregon.
"We are thrilled to have been able to share our years of experience in fraud investigation and forensics with the members of the Oregon Society of CPAs, and to be able to write this article with experts in the subject area such as Heidi and Patsy," Friedman said. "We've conducted numerous forensic examinations that have uncovered and documented fraud, in addition to setting up controls to minimize the opportunity for fraud to occur in the future."
"One of the points that we tried to emphasize in the article is that management tends to overlook the possibilities of additional fraud being committed in the future," Bucklew said. "With today's worsening economic situation, the incidence of fraud is growing by leaps and bounds."
Founded in 1908, the Oregon Society of CPAs is a professional membership organization with nearly 5,000 members statewide, as well as in other states and countries.
"Partnering up with a firm of Chortek & Gottschalk's stature is something that Talbot, Korvola & Warwick looks forward to continuing in the future," Dunn said.
