Christine Baker joins Charter Capital Partners to Lead Business Valuation Practice

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Charter Capital Partners, a Grand Rapids, Mich.-based investment banking firm focused on buy, sell and capital raise transactions, today announced the launch of its Business Valuation Practice and the addition of Christine Baker as Managing Director. With nearly 20 years of business valuation experience, Baker fuels Charter Capital Partners' continued growth in both depth and breadth of services.

Baker will help the firm meet a growing demand for valuation services while leveraging Charter's 25 years of expertise conducting M&A-focused business appraisals. Baker is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), a designation offered by the American Society of Appraisers, and holds an Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) credential by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Baker most recently practiced in New York City as a Managing Director of a boutique business valuation and litigation assistance firm. She has significant experience in performing and critiquing valuations of business interests in a conflict setting such as shareholder litigation and family law matters. Further, Christine specializes in preparing valuations for a variety of business planning purposes including, but not limited to, buy-sell agreements, estate, gift and other tax matters, sale and purchase of business interests, share-based compensation, partner buyouts, succession planning, and corporate and private equity valuation, among others.

Previously, Baker was firm-wide leader of the valuation practice of one of the largest accounting and consulting firm in the Great Lakes region. She has served for more than a decade on AICPA valuation services committees including the Business Valuation Committee and the Forensic and Valuation Services Executive Committee, being awarded Business Valuation Volunteer of the Year in 2006. She is a frequent lecturer and leading professional education instructor, addressing professionals from a variety of national, regional, and local organizations regarding advanced valuation topics.

Charter Capital Partners' Managing Director John Kerschen will support Baker in meeting clients' business appraisal needs. Kerschen maintains a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). The CVA designation is an indication to the business community that the holder has met NACVA's rigorous standards of professionalism, expertise and integrity.
