Chuck Sellers, Dale Ray and Grant Sumner join Avison Young in Dallas

"Game-changers" become Principals, will launch office agency leasing services in Dallas

DALLAS, TX, May 22, 2015 /CNW/ - Greg Langston, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's Dallas office, announced today the strategic hiring of high-profile commercial real estate industry veterans Chuck Sellers, Dale Ray and Grant Sumner in Dallas.

Effective immediately, Sellers, Ray and Sumner become Principals of Avison Young and will launch and lead Avison Young's office agency leasing services throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) region. They will focus on negotiating office leasing transactions on behalf of investors, developers, landlords and tenants across the DFW metro area. They will also assist with third-party leasing and property management assignments and the recruitment of office leasing teammates. Sellers, Ray and Sumner most recently served as Principals with Peloton Commercial Real Estate in Dallas.

Sellers, Ray and Sumner bring more than 70 years of combined commercial real estate experience to Avison Young. During their tenure at Peloton, they completed several major office lease transactions, including Epsilon's lease of 253,000 sf in Las Colinas, and Conifer's 196,000-sf lease on behalf of Duke Realty Corporation. They also negotiated many notable leases on behalf of such clients as: American Home Mortgage (186,000 sf), MedSynergies (146,803 sf), Toyota (122,000 sf), Children's Hospital (110,000 sf), Southwest Airlines (104,528 sf), Med Assets (101,241 sf), Kosmos Energy (100,445 sf), PepsiCo (93,888 sf), and the University of Texas-Dallas (90,000 sf).

In addition, Sellers, Ray and Sumner have developed key relationships with such major firms as GE, Piedmont, Capital Commercial, Duke Realty Corporation, Champion Partners, Highland Capital, Goddard, Catlyn Capital Group, Van Trust, Hudson Advisors, CNL Financial Group, Regis and TIER REIT.

Avison Young opened its Dallas office in 2011, following up on the launch of the company's first Texas office in Houston in 2010. Avison Young opened its Austin office in 2014 and, earlier this month, began offering project management services in San Antonio as a result of Avison Young's acquisition of Pennsylvania-based Remington Group, Inc., which has personnel in Philadelphia and San Antonio.

Biographies

Chuck Sellers
Chuck Sellers brings 30 years of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young, most recently as a Principal with Dallas-based Peloton Commercial Real Estate (2002 to 2015) where he was a top producer. Before moving to Peloton, he served as an Executive Vice-President with Infomart/Trammell Crow Co. (1992 to 2002), director of leasing at Duddleston Management (1989 to 1992), and broker with CBRE (1984 to 1989).

Sellers was named multiple times by the Dallas Business Journal as a Heavy Hitter and Deal of the Year nominee; Power Broker by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) magazine; and CoStar Power Broker. He is active in the industry as a member of the Richardson Broker Development Committee, and volunteers with Boy Scouts of America. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dale Ray
Dale Ray brings 27 years of commercial real estate experience to Avison Young. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a Principal with Peloton Commercial Real Estate in Dallas. Before moving to Peloton in 2008, he served as a managing director with Jones Lang LaSalle (2003 to 2008) and Senior Vice-President with Cousins Property (1997 to 2003), and held leadership roles with Faison and Vantage (1988 to 1997). His notable achievements include being consistently named a Heavy Hitter by the Dallas Business Journal and Power Broker by DCEO magazine. He was a recipient of the DCEO Deal of the Year Award in 2013 for completing a 196,808-sf lease with Conifer on behalf of Duke Realty Corporation.  

Active in his community, Ray has served on various committees at the Prestonwood Christian Academy and as a volunteer leader at Prestonwood Sports Organization. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Appalachian State University.

Grant Sumner
Grant Sumner brings to Avison Young 13 years of commercial real estate experience as a Principal with Dallas-based Peloton Commercial Real Estate, where he was a top producer.

Sumner was named multiple times as a Heavy Hitter by the Dallas Business Journal, Power Broker by DCEO magazine, and CoStar Power Broker. He was a Dallas Business Journal Deal of the Year nominee in 2008, and won the Dallas Business Journal Headquarters Deal of the Year award in 2014 for Epsilon's 253,000-sf lease in Las Colinas. In addition, he was a three-year letterman with the University of Arkansas Razorbacks football team. Sumner sits on the regional Board of North Central Texas Young Life, serves with Young Friends of Ronald McDonald House, and coaches various sports through the Park Cities YMCA. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas.
