CIO Names Sungard Availability Services' Meg Ramsey Among 2018's "Ones to Watch"
WAYNE, Pa., Dec. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS), a leading provider of information availability through managed IT, cloud and recovery services, announces Meg Ramsey, Vice President, Cloud Services Product Management, has received a 2018 "Ones to Watch" Award from CIO, an IDG company. She will accept her award at the AGENDA18 Conference in Miami, Florida on March 21, 2018.
The CIO Ones to Watch Awards spotlight rising technology leaders who have what it takes to become strategic, C-level business technology executives. Candidates have a track record of success, an essential blend of communication and collaboration skills and a keen understanding of business goals. Nominees were judged by a panel of veteran CIOs and members of the CIO Executive Council, and were evaluated on specific criteria: job history, on-the-job accomplishments and leadership attributes.

As Vice President, Cloud Services at Sungard AS, Ramsey sets the cloud strategy and vision for the organization. Leading a team of product managers dedicated to delivering cloud infrastructure services for enterprise clients, she focuses on interoperability across all cloud platforms with embedded resiliency while providing the tools and expertise to deploy or migrate customers' apps and workloads so they can focus on their core business.
Ramsey is also working to develop Sungard AS' strategic growth plans, building on partnerships with AWS and VMware to expand services. As an example of a recent success, Sungard AS achieved Advanced Consulting Partner status in the AWS Partner Network this November, only six-months after the launch of the company's new managed public cloud service. The company is now able to more tightly weave its recovery expertise and managed services into Amazon's infrastructure to deliver cloud services that ensure availability.
While at Sungard AS, Ramsey has driven three major initiatives to cultivate innovation across the organization:
- She led the initiative to launch Managed Cloud – AWS, Sungard AS' first managed service on a hyperscale platform. Taking a DevOps approach, and partnering with Engineering and Operations, Ramsey continues to focus on transforming Sungard AS into the next generation of IT service providers.
- She was the business lead for the technology incubator Sungard Availability Services | Labs. Her team educated the company on emerging technologies and set its long-term technology strategy. She also helped drive external awareness of the program through thought leadership initiatives.
- She created a repeatable global patent process to evaluate ideas, create the applications, and respond to office actions. This streamlined the process and ensured applications were managed in the most efficient and least costly manner.
Ramsey brings to Sungard AS extensive consulting experience within the cloud, IT infrastructure and telecommunications industries. She received her BS from Georgia Institute of Technology and is pursuing a MBA with an expected graduation date of June 2018 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
