Citadel Credit Union Taps Veteran Technologist Eric Skinner as New CIO
EXTON, Pa., Sept. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Citadel Credit Union today announced the promotion of Eric Skinner to Chief Information Officer (CIO). Skinner succeeds Brian Berry, who will retire later this year after 16 years of distinguished leadership, having laid the foundation for Citadel's scalable, secure, and member-focused digital capabilities.
Skinner has been a key member of Citadel's technology leadership since 2013. With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, he has played an integral role in advancing the credit union's operational infrastructure and digital transformation strategy. He began his career as a programmer at a Georgia-based credit union before joining a credit union service organization, where he led the migration of nearly 2,000 institutions to a new shared payments platform.
At Citadel, Skinner led a full core system conversion during his first year, an initiative that catalyzed a broader modernization of Citadel's IT operations. Since then, he has overseen major initiatives across business technologies, telecommunications, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. His focus on operational scale, efficiency, and innovation has enabled Citadel to meet the needs of a rapidly growing member base while elevating member experience and safeguarding data integrity.
"It's been a privilege to work alongside Eric over the years and to see firsthand his commitment to our organization, our members, and our team," said outgoing CIO Brian Berry. "I can't think of a better leader to take the reins, and I look forward to seeing how he continues to build on the momentum we've created together."
In his expanded role, Skinner will lead Citadel's enterprise technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and payment solutions, ensuring continued innovation and resiliency across all digital channels.
"Eric's track record of execution and vision for scalable, member-first technology makes him the ideal leader to shape Citadel's digital future," said Bill Brown, President and CEO of Citadel Credit Union. "This transition also reflects the deep bench of talent and mentorship that has become a hallmark of our organization."
"I'm honored to step into the CIO role at Citadel Credit Union and build on Brian's legacy of innovation, collaboration, and member-first service. Together with our talented team, I look forward to advancing Citadel's technology strategy and delivering secure, seamless digital experiences for every member we serve," said Skinner.
Skinner currently serves on the Symitar Advisory Board for Jack Henry, a leading banking technology provider and core platform partner to Citadel. He is also an active volunteer with the Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation, demonstrating a commitment to both industry advancement and community service.
