CITGO recently recognized the James V. Brown Library as a 2012 Winter Fueling Good winner. Known to Lycoming County as the Storymobile, the library will receive $5,000 in CITGO Gift Cards that will help it travel thousands of miles to daycare centers, schools, local shopping areas and township buildings and provide library materials and services to children, seniors and rural residents.
"We are thrilled with the generous support from CITGO," said Robin Glossner, development director of the James V. Brown Library. "This recognition and award will go a long way in extending our outreach program and the important benefits it provides to children in daycare facilities throughout the county."
The Storymobile travels to 15 preschools and daycares in Lycoming County every two weeks, providing access to children's books and story time with Miss Pam, the bookmobile's driver who reads aloud to local children. Every month, approximately 5,000 items are checked out by county residents. With the Fueling Good reward, the James V. Brown Library plans to expand the collection of the Storymobile and the summer reading 'Splashmobile' with more books, teacher resources, puppets, puzzles and music.
The James V. brown Library is a public library in Lycoming County, the largest county in Pennsylvania. Approximately 11,000 children attend the library's programs each year, including story times, art and craft activities, science programs and family fun. The library also promotes summer reading through its 'Splashmobile,' which brings the library to the kids. As a result, hundreds of kids read over the summer and return to school ready to learn.
The principles of Fueling Good can be seen in all aspects of the CITGO brand. In fact, since the launch of the program in 2009, CITGO has fueled more than a million miles of good through its support of local heroes like the James V. Brown Library. During the most recent campaign, nearly 1,700 charities entered and nearly 151,000 votes were cast to help determine the current round of Fueling Good winners.
Registration for the next Fueling Good program will open for all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations within the CITGO marketing area on Sept. 4, 2012.
