Citi Strengthens Commitment To Help End Childhood Hunger With Food For Thought Fundraising Campaign
Citi Will Donate Up to $500,000 to No Kid Hungry When Citi Credit Cardmembers Dine Out Now through June 15
NEW YORK, April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Citi today announced a new fundraising campaign – Food for Thought – as part of its multi-year relationship supporting Share our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign to end childhood hunger. No Kid Hungry provides food to children in need and teaches families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. Now, each time a Citi credit cardmember dines out with their enrolled Citi credit card through June 15, Citi will make a donation up to a total of $500,000 – enough to provide 5 million meals to children in need.
To participate in the Food For Thought campaign to end childhood hunger, Citi cardmembers should:
- Enroll their Citi credit card at citi.com/DineForKids
- Dine out now through June 15, 2015. Each time the Citi cardmember spends at least $10 dining out, Citi will donate $.25 up to a total of $500,000
- Spread the word with family and friends to help Citi reach its $500,000 goal

Today one in five children in the U.S. struggle with hunger. Lack of nutrition is debilitating for young children, making it very difficult to focus on schoolwork and impacting their emotional and social development.
Through Citi's multi-year relationship with Share Our Strength, Citi is presenting sponsor of No Kid Hungry culinary fundraising programs: the Taste of the Nation series and the No Kid Hungry Dinners. Taste of the Nation engages more than 3,000 chefs, mixologists and restaurateurs in nearly 40 cities to raise funds to support work to end childhood hunger in America. No Kid Hungry Dinners are intimate seated dinners featuring renowned chefs and restaurants from across the country and one-of-a-kind auctions.
As part of Citi's commitment to help end childhood hunger and provide fresh food to families, Citi is also working with communities and local schools in Miami, Los Angeles and New York to develop Citi GardensSM in neighborhoods and engage students and their families in cultivating healthy, fresh food and learning about nutrition.
This month, Citi is beginning efforts to expand Citi Gardens to Miami, working with The Education Fund to expand and transform an edible garden program in Miami-Dade County public schools. Funding from Citi will help create 11 Citi Gardens and support the expansion of The Education Fund's 40 existing edible learning garden programs in Miami-Dade County elementary schools. The edible gardens provide both learning opportunities and fresh produce to serve in school cafeterias and share with students' families.
