Citizen Watch Sponsors L.A. and NYC Premiere of Battle of the Sexes Starring Emma Stone as Brand Partner, Tennis Icon, Billie Jean King

After announcing a partnership with Billie Jean King, former World No. 1 tennis player, known for her advocacies for gender equality and social justice, the brand looked to support the movie that depicted the amazing story that highlighted King's historic victory. Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs, in the renowned "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match, marking one of the greatest moments in history. The match was the most watched televised match at the time, with her victory becoming a staple in public acceptance of women's sports and the overall women's movement.

Citizen's recent involvement with King and the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative, a non-profit organization addressing critical social issues, brings to fruition the brand's partnership with the world of tennis and its efforts in engaging younger generations to become advocates for equality.

Following the NYC premiere, a panel discussion titled, 'How Far Has Feminism Come?' encouraged conversation around this same topic. Moderated by Refinery29's Chief Content Office, Amy Emmerich, panel participants, Billie Jean King, Emma Stone, Valerie Faris and Shonda Rhimes lent their thoughts on the evolution of this critical issue that still very much reverberates today.

Leading up to and throughout the premieres, Citizen developed various activations, including integration of Eco-Drive inspired charging stations and a Battle of the Sexes takeover of the Citizen booth on the US Open grounds.
