FREDERICK, Md., May 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- City Youth Matrix (CYM) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $500,000 multi-year grant from the Ausherman Family Foundation to support the expansion of its operations and ability to serve more families throughout Frederick County. The five-year commitment marks a transformative investment in CYM's mission to remove barriers to enrichment opportunities for youth in ALICE households.
ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed-households that earn above the federal poverty level but still struggle to afford basic necessities like housing, child care, food, transportation, and healthcare. In Frederick County, over one-third of residents fall into the ALICE category, facing significant economic challenges despite being employed.
"The Ausherman Family Foundation has been a significant and consistent believer in the City Youth Matrix mission since our early days," said Aaron Vetter, Founder and Executive Director of City Youth Matrix. "This multi-year commitment solidifies that belief so that we can dramatically broaden our impact. We are immeasurably grateful for this profound commitment from the Ausherman Family Foundation."
The funding will support the hiring of a full-time Director of Operations in the first year and the development of an integrated website and database system, improving CYM's ability to connect families with extracurricular programs, transportation, and other key services. Over the five-year grant period, CYM will scale its efforts to reach more families with consistent, personalized support.
"The Ausherman Family Foundation is proud to support City Youth Matrix and its essential work in providing youth with opportunities for enrichment and growth," said Leigh Adams, Executive Director of the Ausherman Family Foundation. "Through scholarships, transportation, and educational workshops, CYM significantly reduces barriers for families, ensuring that all young participants can reach their fullest potential. Our grant aims to bolster these efforts, reinforcing our dedication to the development and success of youth in our community."
City Youth Matrix connects children and families with enriching experiences in STEM, arts, athletics, and leadership. By offering scholarships, coordination, language support, and transportation, CYM ensures that every child—regardless of economic status—has access to transformative opportunities.
The Ausherman Family Foundation, a private foundation established in 2001, seeks to empower the passion for change in Frederick County, Maryland. The Foundation envisions a vibrant community where nonprofits work collaboratively to advance superior charitable outcomes.
