CityLift And Signature Development Open The First And Only Fully Automated Parking Structure In Northern California

OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CityLift Parking and Signature Development Group, both Oakland based companies, today held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony for the Hive Parking Structure, the first and only fully-automated parking structure in Northern California. The two companies were joined by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf for the ceremony.

"With the launch of the Hive Automated Parking Structure, we now provide a better parking solution for our tenants and their customers that is cost effective and environmentally sustainable," saysMike Ghielmetti, President of Signature Development Group. "It's a parking system that represents the future of real estate."

The Hive Automated Parking Structure is the first and only fully automated parking structure in Northern California. Built on a 1,600 square foot footprint, about the size of seven parking spaces, the structure increases the parking capacity by almost six-fold to 39 vehicles. The structure used 69% less construction material per parking space. The Hive Parking Structure is currently being certified under the US Green Building Council through its Parksmart program, the LEED equivalent for parking structures, as the first of its kind in the US.

"CityLift Parking and Signature Development Group are based right here in Oakland, and to have this type of innovative technology being built right in our backyard says a lot about the success of this city," saysOakland Mayor, Libby Schaaf. "These parking innovations are already spreading across the United States and I'm so proud that it started right here in Oakland."

"As land in America's urban core becomes scarce, automated parking solutions are the most cost and space effective way for developers and public agencies to meet parking requirements within increasingly smaller footprints," says Scott Gable, CEO of CityLift Parking. "We look forward to working with other developers and architects in their projects to help meet their parking needs."
