Classy's #GivingTuesday 2017 Breaks Records, Marks Biggest Single Giving Day in Platform's History
On #GivingTuesday, nonprofits on Classy raised over $10M and Classy staff reached initial fundraising goal of $30,000 for ClassyGives.
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Classy, creator of world-class online fundraising tools, saw a record-breaking #GivingTuesday with over $10 million raised on the platform—up 61 percent from the year before, making it the largest single giving day in Classy's history.
Through Classy's first-ever real-time giving hub, visitors were able to track the momentum on the Classy platform throughout the day, generating additional excitement across the sector.
Some key highlights and data from the day include:
- High-growth generosity across states: The states with the most growth in donations from last year were South Carolina, West Virginia, Georgia, Connecticut, and Wyoming, all donating over 150 percent more than in 2016.
- 100,000 donations in one day: Up 54 percent from 2016, Classy saw 100,000 donations, the highest recorded in a single day on the platform.
- Support for human services led the way: International/foreign affairs; education; philanthropy; and agriculture, food, nutrition were the four other top cause categories throughout the day.
Additionally, the five organizations to raise the most money on the platform were Camp Kesem, International Justice Mission, the Lustgarten Foundation, Charity Navigator, and Food For The Poor, demonstrating the diverse array of causes that donors were passionate about this year.
"As one of our first campaigns on the Classy platform, we couldn't be happier with the tremendous success we saw this #GivingTuesday," said Charity Navigator CEO Michael Thatcher. "We're grateful for Classy's partnership with us in all aspects of our #GivingTuesday success."
To top off an incredible day for Classy customers, Classy staff also leveraged the power of #GivingTuesday for ClassyGives—the company's philanthropic initiative that is benefiting Days for Girls this year—hitting their $30,000 goal. But with the year-end giving season just getting underway, the Classy team has decided to up their goal to $60,000.
"Dignity and opportunity to live your days with health and fullness is priceless," said Celeste Mergens, Days for Girls founder and CEO. "Every donation is a really big deal, because the girl whose life it changes is a big deal too, and we're beyond grateful to have the Classy team's support lead to even greater impact."
