CleanFUEL USA Expands Retail Propane Refueling Dispenser Options
Introduces new cost effective propane refueling pump and increases infrastructure options to broaden commercial viability of cleaner-burning propane engine fuel
GEORGETOWN, Texas, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- CleanFUEL USA, a leader in alternative fuel dispensing equipment and engine technology, today added a new propane fuel dispensing product to its infrastructure equipment line. The new dispenser, the CFT PRO 2100, integrates CleanFUEL's state-of the-art refueling features, including the electronic dispensing computer in a cost-effective design to expand the propane pump infrastructure options currently available on the market. Propane powers roughly 13 million cars and trucks worldwide, and is gaining popularity as an alternative fuel because of its cost competitive and environmental benefits.
"Developing a better infrastructure for the distribution of alternative fuels is an essential part of the country's ability to reduce its dependence on gasoline," said U.S. Congressman John Carter (R-TX). "It helps us both offset the demand for foreign oil and meet rigorous environmental legislation by utilizing cleaner burning transportation fuels that are in surplus, such as propane."
Propane (also known as Autogas) is an alternative fuel with lower greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline or diesel that is best suited for fleet vehicles. Reliable propane engine performance and maintenance has been proven by utilizing new liquid propane injection technology (LPI) technology developed by CleanFUEL USA. Both Ford and GM are developing additional propane engine platforms in 2010.
The new CleanFUEL dispenser is available for a lower cost than competing bottle filling dispensing units on the market and offers unique features, such as a stainless steel cabinet, improved hydraulics and an electronic dispensing computer. The new dispenser is available now and will be integrated into the U.S. propane network that CleanFUEL recently received a grant to spearhead.
The grant was awarded by the Department of Energy last year to build out the nation's largest propane network in coordination with several partners, including ConocoPhillips and Texas State Technical Colleges. The network will include 184 liquid propane refueling stations in major U.S. cities. The first stations will be completed this summer in Phoenix, Arizona and Anaheim, Calif. and there are five additional sites anticipated to open later this summer. The completion of the network is expected to take two to four years to implement entirely.
"CleanFUEL is in the process of building the nation's largest Autogas refueling network," said Tucker Perkins, COO of CleanFUEL. "Watching the infrastructure for this pipeline unfold is an amazing achievement for this country, as it will drive down the costs and emissions associated with transporting goods and services among our cities. This new network not only reduces the impact the commercial transportation market has on our environment, but it also helps companies reduce their transportation costs, which ultimately improves their bottom line."
Alternative fuels are becoming a more attractive option based on the current carbon constraints on the environment and geopolitical pressures surrounding energy options. Currently, propane and CNG (natural gas) are the most feasible alternative fuels based on their availability, cost and limited impact on the environment. There are several differences between the two fuels, such as storage and pressure size, vehicle conversion costs and repairs, infrastructure costs and the refueling process. Conversion, transportation and infrastructure costs are typically significantly higher for CNG fuels. For a detailed comparison of the two fuels, please visit CleanFUEL's website.
