BOSTON, Oct. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Clearway Health, a specialty pharmacy services company, announced several initiatives today aimed at helping hospitals and health systems solve for hospital expense pressures and increased medication costs in a changing and uncertain legislative and 340B landscape.
In response to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the 340B Rebate Model pilot program proposed by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Clearway Health's legislative initiative actively prepares for new processes to address operational needs and projects the anticipated financial repercussions from the new laws. A team of regulatory and operational experts tailor plans specific to each of Clearway Health's clients to help them navigate changes, ensure compliance and optimize the performance of their program despite the changing environment. Clearway Health also offers additional client webinars, routine updates and educational content to address the regulatory and legislative changes, particularly the HRSA rebate model and IRA impacts.
"This year, Clearway Health added many new hospital partners, opened two new specialty pharmacies and is in the process of opening four more in the coming year. We have a strong pulse on the impact of new legislation on operating expenses, the 340B Program and drug acquisition costs because we understand first-hand the broad implications they will have on our hospitals and their patients' access to specialty medications," said Nicole Faucher, MS, president of Clearway Health. "Clearway Health's new initiatives are designed to help hospitals withstand these changes and continue to provide their patients access to lifesaving specialty medications."
Clearway Health also made several investments to enhance its manufacturer, payor and PBM access capabilities to help more hospitals gain entry to limited distribution medications and restrictive payor networks. Navigating manufacturer and complex payor networks presents significant challenges and when successfully achieved can significantly improve a hospital's financial performance. Achieving access requires a strategic approach, involving alignment with clinical performance standards, operational excellence, comprehensive data reporting, specialty pharmacy accreditation, strategic contract negotiation and wholesaler coordination.
Furthermore, the company added several disease-specific initiatives to its clinical services program. Clearway Health launched a COPD and therapy optimization program this May following the approval of dupilumab, a biologic indicated for COPD, in September 2024. The company also launched a pharmacist-supported Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) program which aims to accelerate early diagnosis and linkage to care for patients at risk of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy. In these models, clinical pharmacists leverage data-driven screenings and streamlined patient engagement to ensure timely diagnosis, specialist access and initiation of therapy. This model reduces delays in diagnosis and improves outcomes through earlier intervention, which improves the overall total cost of care. The company will further expand its existing weight management clinical program in the coming year with added focus in addressing cardiometabolic risk associated with obesity.
Clearway Health has remained committed to improving hospital visibility of the outpatient pharmacy service line through its enhanced technology offerings. The company recently launched a new client-facing performance dashboard within its proprietary patient management software solution, Charter. Charter was developed to support the specific needs of specialty pharmacy programs within a hospital or health system. The dashboard provides a detailed view of a specialty pharmacy programs' performance including insights into revenue: plan-to-budget performance, capture rates, adherence, prior authorizations, patient and medication panel size and provider engagement.
Finally, the company also invested in enhancements for the Clearway Health Analytics Tool, a secure, web-based platform that streamlines how the company reviews, classifies, and analyzes Electronic Health Records (EHR) and pharmacy data. Hospitals and health systems can now securely log into upload files, and Clearway Health's data teams use the tool to evaluate that data, highlighting areas of opportunity and focus to support program growth. By transforming complex information into actionable insights, the Analytics Tool enables smarter, and faster decision-making.
"Each October, Clearway Health celebrates our anniversary as a chance to recognize our significant growth as a company and the accomplishments we have made to improving access to specialty medications for patients," said Faucher. "As we look ahead, helping hospitals and health systems solve for operating expense pressures and increased medication costs during a time of significant change in the coming year is one of our top priorities. The new initiatives we have put forth will continue to evolve and grow throughout the year and will make a significant difference in overcoming barriers to accessing affordable medications."
