CHICAGO, Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cleversafe, Inc., the smarter equation for secure cloud storage, announced that Jason Resch, senior software engineer, will co-present on a new dispersed storage scheme with University of Tennessee professor James Plank at the Fast '11- USENIX Conference on File and Storage Technologies on Feb. 17, 2011, in San Jose, Calif. The FAST '11 conference brings together storage system researchers and practitioners to explore new directions in the design, implementation, evaluation, and deployment of storage systems.
Dispersing files across multiple sites yields a variety of benefits, such as availability, proximity and reliability, while enabling security to be achieved without relying on encryption keys. Standard approaches to dispersal either achieve very high security with correspondingly high computational and storage costs, or low security with lower costs.
Resch and Plank will co-present a new dispersed scheme, which combines an All-Or-Nothing Transform with Reed-Solomon erasure codes (AONT-RS) to achieve high security with low computational and storage costs. They'll show how AONT-RS is proving to be the backbone of a Cleversafe secure dispersed storage system.
