Climate Savers Computing Invites IDF2011 Developers to Power Management Roundtable

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI), the global consortium focused on reducing the energy consumption and carbon footprint of computing and communications equipment through power management and more energy efficient technologies, today announced that it will hold a power management roundtable for software developers and system architects in San Francisco on September 14 in conjunction with the Intel Developer Forum.

The event will focus on addressing areas where various software applications may be interfering with power management on PCs and networked computers and builds on the momentum CSCI established at its first power management roundtable that took place on July 26 at the IEEE Green Computing Conference in Orlando. This is where participants shared best practices, pointed out "worst" practices, and identified tools and information to help make the development of energy efficient software easier and faster.

"At the September 14 roundtable, power management experts from CSCI and invited software developers will continue the discussions, expand the work done at the IEEE Green Computing Conference and review new opportunities for ensuring seamless interaction between power management and software applications," said George O. Goodman, executive director, CSCI.

The event will run from 5:00pm – 7:30pm US PT, with a meet-and-greet with cocktails and refreshments starting at 5:00 in the Twin Peaks Room at the Intercontinental Hotel, across the street from Moscone West where IDF2011 is being held. There is no charge to attend this event.
