Coastal Orthopedics celebrates 30 years in practice

CONWAY, S.C., March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Coastal Orthopedics, located at 2376 Cypress Circle, Suite 300, in Conway is celebrating its 30-year anniversary.

Founded by James W. Yates, Jr., M.D., in 1983, Coastal Orthopedics has grown from its original mobile office, parked outside the former Conway Hospital, to now occupying the entire third floor of the Medical Arts Building on the Conway Medical Center campus.

Seeing a need in the community for orthopedic care, Dr. Yates treated more than 1,000 patients in his first year in practice. Soon, the practice grew to include hand and wrist surgeon J. Stewart Haskin, Jr., M.D. Now with eight doctors across all orthopedic subspecialties, the practice continues to grow and thrive, even recently adding an additional fellowship-trained spine surgeon, Dr. Erkan Alci. Since its founding, the practice has expanded its services, now offering on-site digital X-ray, DEXA bone density scanning, electromyography (EMG) testing and nerve conduction velocity testing. Coastal Orthopedics also recently opened its OrthoNow Clinic, which provides extended clinic hours for patients who have experienced acute orthopedic injuries.
