Coleman Natural Foods Pledges $800,000 to American Humane's Pups4Patriots Program

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- American Humane, the country's oldest national humane organization, is excited to announce an unprecedented $800,000 pledge over three years by Coleman Natural Foods to support the American Humane Pups4Patriots™ program.

Pups4Patriots is a national initiative that finds dogs in need of forever homes and trains them to become life-saving dogs for veterans with post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Research has shown that specialized PTS and TBI service dogs can offer life-changing and often life-saving—support to veterans in need. However, there are obstacles standing in the way for veterans in need of service dogs. Waiting lists are often 18-24 months long and the training process is time-consuming and expensive, costing as much as $30,000 per dog.

"American Humane will be able to train more dogs because of Coleman's generosity," said American Humane President and CEO Robin Ganzert, Ph.D. "That means more deserving veterans can get help, at no cost to them, and a new leash on life."
