COLLEGE STATION, Texas, July 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Parents of a 2-year-old girl are suing Aggieland Country School, claiming the Montessori school endangered their daughter by routinely removing her from the building and leaving her alone outside for prolonged periods of time because she would cry or could not fall asleep at naptime. Clara Gonzalez and Javier Perez want answers.
According to the complaint filed on July 17, a routine licensing inspection of the school in November 2023 led to the discovery of the ongoing incidents at Aggieland Country School. During the visit, a state inspector found the toddler locked outside, unsupervised and visibly upset. The lawsuit also states the inspector found the child wearing only a T-shirt and jeans on a day when temperatures hovered around 60 degrees.
"Aggieland Country School failed our daughter and our family time and time again," says Clara Gonzalez. "We relied on their promise to create a nurturing and safe environment for children. Unfortunately, our daughter's horrific treatment revealed a much different reality."
Texas childcare laws, also known as the minimum standards, require daycare centers and schools to notify parents immediately of any incidents involving their children. However, Gonzalez and Perez learned about the treatment of their daughter at the school when a state official reached out to them to initiate an independent investigation, per the complaint. The state cited the school for violating eight minimum standards, including neglecting Gonzalez and Perez's daughter and lacking required annual training documents for three caregivers and the school's director.
