COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Following key publicly announced economic development wins like Amazon's new data centers, Ohio businesses just received another proof point that Columbus has emerged as a key growth market in the digital economy, bringing core digital infrastructure and jobs to the region. Cologix™, a network neutral interconnection and data center company, announced today that construction has begun on a 160K SQF, 18+MW data center on its current 8 acre campus in Columbus. The new $130M+ facility will become Columbus's largest neutral data center and will be directly linked to Cologix's existing data centers which are the most connected facilities in Ohio, offering connectivity to 45+ network service providers, 20+ cloud service providers and the Ohio-IX Internet Exchange.

Cologix has designed the site with the most sophisticated cloud providers and enterprises in mind. The data center will be built based on a concurrently maintainable design with 2N power and N+1 cooling. Further unique attributes include an EF-4 tornado rating, K-rated perimeter fence and 24x7 guards. The redundancy, scale, security and connectivity will allow Cologix to uniquely address growing market demand ranging from individual cabinets to multi-megawatt deployments.

Cologix has received all necessary permits, has completed all necessary site preparation work and expects to break ground immediately with its construction partners Parallel Technologies and Kraus Anderson. The construction effort is expected to employ 128 full time local trade jobs. The first phase is expected to be operational in mid 2017.
