Commetrex Announces 'Smart ATA'
Says Smart ATA Means Access Providers Can Now Offer Fax Without Fear
ATLANTA, Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Commetrex Corporation announces the availability of its new Smart ATA for Q4 trials. Smart ATA is the first ATA to include Commetrex' exclusive Smart FoIP and the first in the industry to support T.38 V3 with V.34. The company says Smart FoIP improves the transaction-success rates of FoIP calls over carrier networks by up to 10% and V.34 halves the time it takes to transmit an image.
Developed in partnership with its longtime partner, New Rock Technologies, Inc. (Shanghai, China), Smart ATA offers 1-2 ports of FXS and FXO and two Ethernet ports. David Greenwald, Smart ATA product manager, says, "Just because Smart ATA raises the bar for FoIP performance and function, don't believe it doesn't offer outstanding voice, system-management, security, and call-processing features and performance. This is truly a revolutionary product in many dimensions," he added.
For years, VoIP service providers have held off on offering FoIP to their business customers because it was just too problematic. But by testing with a few select OEM partners, Commetrex set out to find out why. And it did. The result was the development of a new patent-pending technology that synchronizes SIP call setup with the T.30 fax protocol to put what Commetrex calls "intelligence" into the SIP signaling that establishes an FoIP session. Greenwald points out that without Smart FoIP in an ATA, gateway, or media server, an FoIP session is all too often doomed to fail due to either not-too-smart signaling or lack of PCM-clock synchronization in G.711 pass-through sessions, both of which are eliminated as problems by Smart FoIP.
Commetrex is officially unveiling Smart ATA at ITEXPO West 2011 in Austin, TX on September 13, and is currently accepting orders from VoIP service providers for Q4 trials. Although Smart ATA is a new product, its software has a long pedigree since it is based on New Rock's long-deployed MX series of enterprise gateways.
