Commtouch® (NASDAQ: CTCH), a leading provider of Internet security technology and cloud-based services, today announced the appointment of Lior Kohavi as the company's new chief technology officer. He will be based in Commtouch's Israel office.

Kohavi will lead the company's efforts to drive innovation in its development and delivery of new and existing services and its unique cloud-based infrastructure. He will also lead efforts to ensure Commtouch's security analysis and detection technologies continuously evolve to handle changes in the threat landscape and outperform alternative solutions.
Kohavi has more than 20 years of experience as a senior technology executive. For the last eight years, he served as a business strategy architect at Microsoft headquarters where he was part of the company's malware detection team and played a significant role in the development of Microsoft's mobile operating system. He previously served as vice president of product management and strategy at Whale Communications, a pioneer in the enterprise-class SSL VPN market, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2006. Prior to Whale, Kohavi led the development of cryptographic security at Cylink and served as the head of the Israel Air Force's Network and Operations Systems Department.
