Compuverde Enables Cold Cloud Storage with its Hyperconverged vNAS Solution

KARLSKRONA, Sweden, May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The meteoric growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the mass adoption of cloud services are driving the development of new storage architectures to store the massive quantities of data being generated. Compuverde today announced that its hyper-converged, web-scale vNAS solution enables cold storage for MSPs, ISPs, telcos and storage hardware manufacturers seeking to offer "cold cloud" services at a higher performance than current offerings on the market. It is clear that even a linear growth trajectory for storage is insufficient to deliver the quantity of storage needed for data produced by the IoT.

• Cold storage for safekeeping: Cold storage warehouses the huge amounts of data that an organization wants – or is required – to keep but doesn't need to be accessed regularly. This frees up server space, allowing the organization to run faster and avoid additional hardware expenditure.
• Software-defined is not enough: Most open source solutions are not mature enough to be hosting in a production environment due to imperfect connections with the user interface or custom code written by the vendor.
• Massive scaling capabilities, lower cost: Compuverde supports massively scaled-out cold cloud storage infrastructures at a higher performance per dollar than open source cold cloud solutions.

Stefan Bernbo, CEO and founder, Compuverde, said:
"In a world with Big Data and billions of connected devices, greater storage capacity has become an absolute business necessity. Cold cloud is the latest example of MSPs, ISPs and telcos seeking options for storing this data and presenting a competitive storage offering to its customers. Compuverde enables the delivery of high IOPS on low-performance, inexpensive hardware, enabling service providers to meet customers' changing storage needs at an attractive price point."
