Concentra Supports National Influenza Vaccination Week

DALLAS, Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Concentra, a subsidiary of Humana Inc., is taking part in National Influenza Vaccination Week (December 4-11) as designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The company is also making seasonal influenza vaccines available through its Concentra Urgent Care centers.

In support of National Influenza Vaccination Week, all Concentra Urgent Care locations will be offering the single-dose influenza vaccine, while supplies last.  The 2011/2012 single-dose vaccine covers the seasonal flu strain and provides the best defense against contracting the flu virus. Seasonal influenza, or the flu, is an extremely contagious respiratory infection and can cause medical complications that result in an average of 36,000 deaths each year.  But the flu can be prevented with an annual flu vaccine. It has been calculated to save more than 8 million lives annually – the equivalent of one person saved every five seconds.

Flu shots are available at all Concentra Urgent Care locations across the country, to patients four years of age and older. No appointment is necessary, walk-ins are welcome.
