Concept Companies Begins Construction for New Merieux NutriSciences Building in Cornerstone

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Jan. 24, 2018  /PRNewswire/ -- Concept Companies began construction for the new Merieux NutriSciences building at Cornerstone in Gainesville, Florida on Monday morning. The new development is another piece of the ever-growing technology, service, and light manufacturing area in the southeastern part of the city. The project is a collaboration between local Concept Companies, a comprehensive real estate development and construction organization, and RS&H, a nationally ranked top 100 design firm based out of Jacksonville, Florida.

The new construction is all part of the plan to develop the City of Gainesville's 13 Acres on the east side of Gainesville along Hawthorne Road. The Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has had this process in the works for some time now, with the master plan being completed in 2015.  "It's a great day for Gainesville! We're delighted to see Merieux NutriSciences growing and building a new facility at Cornerstone. With the assistance of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the support and vision of the City of Gainesville's leadership and commission, a very capable development partner in Concept Companies and the hard work of the CRA staff the expansion of the GTEC area on Hawthorne Road is happening," stated Sarah Vidal-Finn, CRA Director.

The CRA has four development areas: Fifth Avenue/Pleasant Street, Downtown, College Park/ University Heights, and Eastside. Additional plans include developments for Cornerstone.

Merieux NutriSciences is headquartered in Chicago and is a subsidiary of Institut Merieux. They work with clients as a trusted partner to promote public health through analysis, consulting, auditing, training, contract research and sensory analysis services. They currently have 7,000 employees and are in 22 countries.

Construction is expected to last 6-8 months, and Merieux NutriSciences occupying the facility in the latter half of 2018.
