Atlanta, Georgia-based Faux Fro won $5,000 and the title of America's Small Business Hero.
CHICAGO, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Insureon, the nation's leading online agency for small businesses, today announced the winners of its America's Small Business Hero contest, which allowed small businesses from around the United States to compete for a grand prize of $5,000 and three finalist prizes of $1,000 each. The contest involved four rounds of bracket-style voting, which required contestants to compete against other businesses in their region for votes from social media fans and followers.
After tallying the votes, insureon is happy to announce that the grand prize winner is Faux Fro of Atlanta, Georgia. Faux Fro provides "kinky and curly hair extensions for those who aren't afraid of making BOLD statements with their hair while keeping natural textures in mind." Jia McClain, Faux Fro's founder, had the idea for the business nearly two years ago but delayed starting it because of the initial costs. When she launched at the end of 2014, she says, she was met with enthusiastic support – to the point that she worried she wouldn't be able to keep up with demand. With the prize money, she plans on "purchasing new packaging, adding new products that'll be exclusive to the brand, [having] a professional photo shoot, … and purchasing as much inventory as I can to… cut down on shipping time."
