Congress Approves Two-Year 'Cadillac Tax' Delay

WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Alliance to Fight the 40 | Don't Tax My Health Care today applauded Congressional leaders for including a two-year delay of the 40% "Cadillac Tax" in their bill to end the government shutdown and provide funding through February 8^th. This two-year delay will push the effective date for the "Cadillac Tax" to 2022, and will help to protect health care coverage for the more than 178 million Americans with employer-sponsored health insurance.

"We applaud Congress for delaying the 'Cadillac Tax' that is driving up health care costs for millions of Americans," said James A. Klein, President of the American Benefits Council. Taxing health benefits would compel employers to stop offering wellness programs and on-site clinics and to reluctantly ask employees to bear higher out-of-pocket costs.
