About MC4R-related Early-onset Obesity

The leptin-melanocortin pathway is the main neuroendocrine pathway regulating feeding and hunger in humans. Genetic obesity associated with MC4R mutations mainly results from protein misfolding and reduced receptor trafficking to the cell surface, resulting in hyperphagia and weight gain.
