Contemporary Jewelry Artist, Anna Hu, Receives China Institute's 'Artistic Vision of the Year' Award

NEW YORK, Feb. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On the evening of Friday, February 4, 2011, New York's esteemed China Institute presented contemporary jewelry artist, Anna Hu, with the "Artistic Vision of the Year" Award, honoring her work as an artistic innovator and classically trained curator of exquisite jewels at the 7th annual traditional Chinese New Year Gala.  It was the first time a jewelry designer was extended this award.  The Awards Ceremony was timed with the celebration of the Chinese New Year, and is an important annual event paying tribute to the arts and Chinese culture.

The exceptional pieces within Anna Hu's collection are works of art unto themselves, and the designer has said that she "uses gem stones to paint fine art."  Anna's art works combine inspirational elements of classical music, her whimsical imagination, and Western and Chinese art and constantly push the boundaries of innovation through the uses of new metals and highly complex and unique designs that only a very few number of skilled craftsmen in the world are able to create.

Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie was found in 2008 in New York City with an exclusive jewelry salon at the Plaza Hotel. Anna Hu grew up traveling the world with her renowned gemologist father, in his quest for rare stones.  At age 20, she received her G.G. qualification from GIA, as well as two art-related Masters Degrees from Parsons School for Design and Columbia University.
