Content & Co. Inks Showrunner Deals with Acclaimed Producers/Directors James Widdoes, Peter Isacksen & Michael Hughes
LOS ANGELES, July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Content & Co., the creative-led, modern media studio, today announced the closing of separate production overall development (pod) deals with the companies headed by acclaimed directors and producers James Widdoes and Peter Isacksen (Widdoes/Isacksen), and Michael Hughes (DLP Media Group). As showrunners, Widdoes/Isacksen and DLP Media Group will develop and create branded projects for the Los Angeles-based agency, which has generated original series and influencer programs for major brands such as Subway, Schick, TJX, and FCA, among others.
"Widdoes, Isacksen, and Hughes have all been crafting quality entertainment for decades as three of the most successful and well-respected storytellers of our time," said Stuart McLean, President of Content & Co. "Not only have we had success with each on past projects, but we also know that our network partners love working with them. We look forward to creating programming together that works for both brands and distributors alike."
One of television's most prolific producers and directors, Widdoes was the series director of the hit show Two and a Half Men, and now directs the CBS sitcom, Mom. Before moving behind the camera, he appeared in numerous television series as an actor, as well as in the classic comedy film Animal House. Widdoes also currently heads the production company Widdoes/Isacksen with partner and fellow acclaimed actor and producer Peter Isacksen, whose production credits include Lovebites on TBS and the Emmy-nominated FOX documentary Opening the Lost Tombs: Live from Egypt. Widdoes and Isacksen executive produced and directed Subway's The 4 to 9ers for Content & Co., an award-winning branded entertainment series that ran for four seasons on Hulu.
"Peter and I are honored to be stepping into this new role with Content & Co. If our combined success with The 4 to 9ers tells us anything, it's that there's no limit to what we can do together," said Widdoes. "We can't wait to work directly with the team's impressive roster of national and global clients on a more regular basis."
A 10-time Emmy Award-winning executive producer, Hughes is the principal for DLP Media Group. Known for its expertise in premium nonfiction programming, some of the company's most notable credits include Pony Excess on ESPN; The Pine Tar Incident on FOX; and Watchpoint for Blizzard Entertainment on Twitch and MLG. Hughes also recently produced Stand United for Content & Co, a documentary series presented by the Ram Truck brand that premiered on director Robert Rodriguez's El Rey Network earlier this year.
"It was such a pleasure working with Content & Co. over these past few months for Stand United," said Hughes. "When navigating today's fast-paced media landscape, the broader the team the better, which is why we're so excited to bring Content & Co. and DLP Media Group's robust range of expertise closer than ever."
