AWS GovCloud (US) is an isolated AWS Region designed to host sensitive data and regulated workloads in the cloud, including Protected Health Information (PHI). It is also one of the only hosting environments in the United States to achieve FedRAMP High security authorization -- the highest security level defined by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards. FedRAMP High authorization is typically required for federal and most state health agencies' cloud-hosted, mission-critical applications.
