ConvaTec Presents New Data on ConvaTec Moldable Technology™ and Vitala™ Continence Control Device in Ostomy Care

SKILLMAN, N.J., June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ConvaTec, a world-leading developer and marketer of innovative medical technologies for community and hospital care, today presented new data from multiple studies related to its advanced technologies in ostomy care including ConvaTec Moldable Technology™ and the Vitala™ Continence Control Device (CCD).  Results were presented at the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) 43rd Annual Conference held June 4-8, 2011 in New Orleans, LA.

ConvaTec Moldable Technology™ Skin Barriers

ConvaTec Moldable Technology™ Skin Barriers with Rebounding Memory Technology™ are the only skin barriers with a patented* tri-laminate construction that actively adjusts to the shape and contours of the stoma. • The Road to Independence: Successful Use of Moldable Ostomy Skin Barriers to Improve Patient Outcomes (Abstract # 5137)

• Use of a Moldable Skin Barrier with Adhesive Coupling to Manage Severely Denuded Peristomal Skin (Abstract # 5251)

Vitala™ Continence Control Device (CCD)

Data was also presented data on the Vitala™ CCD, an innovative, non-invasive device that restores continence for up to 12 hours per day, allowing patients to manage their colostomy without having to wear a pouch or incorporate irrigation. The unique design also helps to reduce odor and noise.(3) Four prospective case studies of patient experiences with Vitala™ CCD drawn from the device's Phase 3 clinical trial(4) were presented as an abstract and poster titled:
