The Cooper products are among the only 33 that were recognized winners for their excellence of 328 submitted. The products that have been recognized, meaning they are recommended for specification, include Cooper Lighting's RSA COMBOLIGHT® Next Generation Recessed Multi-Lamp LED Downlight, the Portfolio LED Downlight Series of 4-inch and 6-inch aperture downlights and the Portfolio 6-inch aperture LED Open Wall Wash Downlight.
"The NGL competition is among the most sought after and prestigious award in the industry, and we are honored to have our products recognized for superior design and performance by such credible industry sponsors," says Mark Eubanks, President, Cooper Lighting. "We invest heavily in product development across our entire portfolio of quality brands and these awards validate our commitment to providing sustainable, reliable LED solutions for our customers."
Awarded in the Recessed Downlighting category, the RSA COMBOLIGHT, one of the first to offer an LED solution for recessed multi-lamps fixtures, is available with one to six LED module configurations in eight or 18 watts. This fixture is offered in 3000K and 4000K color temperatures, features excellent color quality (85 CRI) and is available in narrow (8 degree), medium (25 degree), and wide (40 degree) optical distributions. Unlike most commercial-grade recessed fixtures, the RSA COMBOLIGHT is also available with an Insulated Ceiling (IC) rating, further adding to energy savings.
Also recognized in the Recessed Downlighting category, the ENERGY STAR® qualified Portfolio 4-inch and 6-inch aperture LED Downlights feature a diffused optical system that provides superior light control and low aperture brightness while delivering 50+ lm/W. The curved transitional lens design reduces LED source brightness and evenly distributes light across the entire lens producing even illumination. Lumen packages range from 900-1500 lumens.
Awarded in the Wall Washing category, the Portfolio 6-inch aperture LED Open Wall Wash luminaire also features a diffused optical system with low aperture brightness while delivering 50+ lm/W. A two-stage reflector system produces high levels of vertical illumination on the wall with minimal source brightness. Lumen packages range from 1000-1500 lumens.
The Portfolio recessed products are rated for 50,000 hours at 70% lumen maintenance. The fixtures are available in 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K color temperatures with reliable color consistency from fixture to fixture. The recognized products meet high efficacy requirements for Title 24-2008 and IECC-2009.
NGL encourages manufacturers to develop innovative commercial luminaires that are energy-efficient and provide high lighting quality and consistency, glare control, lumen maintenance, and luminaire appearance needed to meet specification lighting requirements.
Of the 328 products submitted (up from 265 in 2009), judges independently evaluated 138 qualified products from 61 manufacturers by assessing their lighted performance and appearance, construction, and photometric data with special attention focused on serviceability/replacement issues. Thirty-three commercial LED products were chosen as recognized winners. Of the nearly 600 product submissions over the last two years, Cooper is one of only two manufacturers receiving over seven recognized winner awards in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, Cooper had four exterior LED products recognized, which demonstrates the company's diverse product offering of LED solutions.
The winning products were announced and awarded at a ceremony at the Strategies in Light conference in Santa Clara, California held February 23, 2011.
