Daniel M. Kotin, a partner at the Chicago law firm of Corboy & Demetrio, has been elected President of The Society of Trial Lawyers
CHICAGO, Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Corboy & Demetrio partner Daniel M. Kotin assumed the office of President of The Society of Trial Lawyers on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at the litigation group's annual meeting in Chicago. Kotin, a partner at the Chicago personal injury law firm, will serve a term of one year.
The Society of Trial Lawyers is an elite, invitation-only group, which comprises many of the Chicago's top trial lawyers on both the defense and plaintiffs' sides. Kotin told the crowd of lawyers becoming president has extra meaning for him and his family.
"It was 32 years ago this month that my dad became president of the society and I remember that vividly and it was a big deal for him, and he passed 18 years ago, but I'm sure he's looking down and that he is happy about seeing his son following in his footsteps," Kotin said.
Kotin's practice areas include representing plaintiffs in personal injury, product liability and medical malpractice litigation. His involvement in the legal community is extensive. Dan is Treasurer of the Chicago Bar Association. He is on the faculty at Loyola University School of Law where he teaches a course on Civil Procedure, serves as a coach of the School's National Mock Trial Team and sits on the Board of Governors for the law school.
Also, Dan was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve on the Hearing Board of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission where he helps to decide disciplinary cases against attorneys.
