Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley Outlines Important Role and Challenges For Clean Diesel in Clean Energy Economy

WASHINGTON, Nov. 4, 2011  /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Clean diesel will play an important role in America's new clean energy economy due to new technologies that have improved diesel fuel's efficiency and dramatically reduced emissions, Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Nancy Sutley said during a presentation to diesel industry leaders Thursday night.

Sutley made her comments during her keynote dinner address at the annual meeting of the Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) in Crystal City, VA.

"The diesel industry has succeeded in innovative efforts to improve fuel efficiency and dramatically reduce emissions," Sutley said. "This continued commitment and progress is helping companies and communities save money and reduce pollution, and propelling the clean energy jobs and industries that will power our economy in the 21st century.

Sutley credited the research and development by diesel industry leaders during the past decade for significantly improving new engines and ultra-low sulfur fuel.
