CounterPath Announces Video Over Android, iPad and iPhone, and BroadWorks Integration at BroadSoft Connections 2011

VANCOUVER and PHOENIX, Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ - To help service providers and Internet Telephony providers grow revenues by leveraging video as the new key service to customers, CounterPath Corporation (OTCBB: CPAH) (TSXV: CCV) today announced that, starting this fall with the next version of Bria iPhone Edition, CounterPath will offer a complete voice, messaging, presence and video offering for the most popular desktop and mobile operating systems. In addition, the company is also announcing integration with BroadSoft's BroadWorks platform through the implementation of the most used features leveraging BroadSoft's Xtended Services Interface (XSI).

Incumbent service providers are facing a significant threat in this new world of voice, messaging and video applications due to the popularity of VoIP companies such as Skype, which represents over 20% of international long-distance calling today¹ as well as 82% of all mobile VoIP bandwidth², and Facebook, which now has enlisted over 10% of the world's population³. In fact, as smartphones and tablets continue to displace deskphones and cell phones in both the home and office, the demand for enterprise-grade applications that enable video calling has never been higher. CounterPath's latest integration with BroadSoft's Xtended Services Interface (XSI) offers end-users key features and settings accessible from both the Bria desktop and mobile softphone applications.  The features supported are:

• Remote Office. Enables mobile users to access and use their BroadWorks telephone services from any end-point. Users can employ BroadWorks to originate calls from remote locations such as a home, office or mobile phone, providing them with full access to corporate directories and personal address books.
  
  
• Simultaneous Ring. Enables a user to have multiple numbers ring simultaneously when any calls are received on their phone number.
  
  
• BroadWorks Anywhere. Extends the features of a desk phone to any other fixed or mobile device, regardless of network or handset manufacturer.
  
  
• Call Forwarding/DND. Easily change telephony service settings such as Call Forward No Answer and Do Not Disturb (DND) while on the move.
  
  
• Contact and Call History. Dial contacts from a user's address book as well as access and delete Call Logs of missed, received and dialed numbers.
