Craig Hospital Celebrates "Topping Out" Ceremony for Transformative Campus Expansion

Milestone advances the $100 million Hope & Homecomings Campaign and Craig's commitment to expanding care and accelerating innovation

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Craig Hospital, a nationally recognized neurorehabilitation and research hospital specialized in the care of individuals with spinal cord and brain injury, celebrated the topping-out of its campus expansion project on September 24 at the hospital's Englewood campus.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the project's first phase, culminating with the placement of a ceremonial topping-out beam at the highest point of the East Building. Staff, volunteers, patients, families, board members, supporters and construction teams gathered to celebrate the collective effort behind the project.

The strategic campus expansion is a central component of Craig's $100 million Hope & Homecomings Campaign, the largest fundraising effort in the hospital's 119-year history. The campaign will strengthen Craig's ability to serve more patients and families, while advancing research that can translate into real-world therapies.

Key priorities of the Hope & Homecomings Campaign:

• Expanding inpatient care: Increasing capacity by 13-15 percent and helping Craig serve patients sooner by adding at least 26 patient rooms, including Craig's pioneering 12-room neuromedical unit.
• Accelerating innovation: Adding 8,000+ square feet dedicated to translational research and creating a new Human Movement Lab to further integrate research into real-world therapies and expand Craig's research capacity.

DPR Construction is serving as the project's general contractor, Cumming Group as the project manager, and Davis Partnership Architects as the architect.
