Cruzan® Rum Provides Island Support With Cruzan® Hurricane Proof™ Rum

CHICAGO, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cruzan® Rum, producer of some of the world's finest aged rums, is proud to announce the launch of Cruzan® Hurricane Proof™ Rum as the newest addition to the brand's portfolio. Bottled at 137 proof in acknowledgement of the wind speeds of the category 5 hurricane that swept through the brand's home island of St. Croix last year, Cruzan Hurricane Proof offers a clean and smooth flavor profile due to the low levels of fusel oils with which this rum is crafted. As part of Cruzan's dedication to contributing to the Island Spirit Fund, of which Cruzan is a founding sponsor, Cruzan will donate $1 to the Fund for each case of this rum sold, meaning every bottle purchased will provide aid and support to communities adversely impacted by hurricanes in the U.S. Virgin Islands and across the United States.

Created in the aftermath of the destruction caused last year by Hurricanes Maria and Irma, the Island Spirit Fund supports short-and long-term disaster relief efforts in the U.S. Virgin Islands and across the United States, helping rebuild and reinvigorate communities impacted by storms of all kinds. To-date, the Fund has raised nearly $1 million through individual donations, Cruzan's case matching program, and the generous case-matching donation commitments from several distributor partners.

Ingredients:

• 1 ½ parts Cruzan® Dark Rum
• ½ part Cruzan® Hurricane Proof™ Rum
• ½ part lemon juice
• ½ part cane syrup
• 1 dash Angostura® bitters
• Hot water

Method:

• Prepare a mug by rinsing it with boiling water and pouring the water out.
• Add the cane syrup and hot water and stir until dissolved.
• Add remaining ingredients and more hot water and stir gently to combine.
