CTC Electronic Well in the Lead Among China-made Double-color Printers

ZHUHAI, China, April 23, 2015 /PR Newswire/ -- Zhuhai CTC Electronic Co., Ltd.'s recently rolled out line of CTC dual-extruder Bizer Series 3D printers has been getting rave reviews from industry insiders. The line of desktop FDM-technology-based 3D printers supports 3D printing of both double-color materials and double-texture materials, making high-end 3D printing technology accessible to the average consumer.  

Compared with mainstream single-extruder printers, CTC Bizer Series 3D printers, a double-material extrusion model, are equipped with two extruders, allowing the output of printouts with dual colors and 3D modeling with a more complex structure and higher flexibility.

According to CTC communications division manager He Siyi: "For 3D apprentices at the entry level in terms of mastering the craft, one of the first steps is to learn and master the skills needed to manipulate 3D printer drivers. CTC director of operations Tan Jianru explained: "3D printing, not nearly as user-friendly as graphic printing, requires that certain instructions be followed. Before 3D printing, the levelness of the print platform had to be minutely adjusted so as to ensure that the distance between the extruders and the print platform was very tight, ideally matching the thickness of a sheet of 80g regular A4 paper, with precise adjustments of the points on all sides of the platform.

After completing the adjustments, the operator then proceeds with the building of the model and the print settings through the 3D drivers. At variance from printing single-color models, he or she has to build two computer models for double-color models so that the double extruders can undertake the printing tasks in turn. After the model-building file is saved, the actual printing takes place by linking the file to a PC through a USB port or printing directly with an SD card." 

ZOL 3D Printing Channel's recent technical test on a CTC Bizer Series 3D printer showed that it took the printer 30 minutes to complete the printing of a 40x40x40mm single-color circular cone and 23 minutes to complete the printing of a 40x40x20mm single-color hemisphere, evidencing that the printer has a very high printing efficiency with a precision of 200 microns and a 10% filling rate when compared to similar models from other makers.

In the case of dual-color printing, the absence of other dual-color printers on the market demonstrates the CTC Bizer Series 3D printers' substantial lead against the competition in the sector, considering that the process and structure of dual-color printing are far more complex than those of single-color types. 

According to ZOL 3D Printing Channel, the CTC Bizer Series 3D printers are the first China-made dual-extruder 3D printer that has gone through its technical test. The installment and setting of the device as well as the application of its 3D printing software require certain hands-on skills. The open-source 3D printing software ReplicatorG is worth mastering and experimenting with. 

ZOL 3D Printing Channel added that when it comes to the quality of 3D printing, the CTC Bizer Series performs well both in single-color and dual-color printing and is a good match with ReplicatorG open-source 3D printing software and MakerWare, especially when the purpose is related to higher education and research. Experimenters can try different printing temperature settings as well as various materials such as PVA water-soluble materials or nylon, to discover new applications for 3D printing.
