Cubic Transportation Systems to present vision of automotive industry's contribution to Mobility as a Service
SAN DIEGO, July 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB) today announced that its Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) business division's director of strategy, Andy Taylor, will deliver a presentation during the 2018 Center for Automotive Research (CAR) Management Briefing Seminars (MBS) on July 31 in Traverse City, Michigan.
Taylor will discuss how the private car can remain relevant if the Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) model becomes the standard of future urban mobility, despite the challenges to the automotive industry driven by automation, changing consumption habits and the sharing economy. Although Cubic's vision of MaaS centers on the idea that public transit agencies – more than any other player – should play center stage, private car ownership could remain an important element of the future mobility landscape.
"Mobility as a Service does not necessarily mean the end of the car," said Taylor. "Through smart partnerships between public and private transport service providers, the automotive industry can position itself as the partner of choice for helping cities address first/last mile problems, filling in the gaps in service and capitalizing on those parts of the transportation network that cannot be effectively serviced by public transit.
